The redesign (right) of the University of Illinois College of Law website began in January 2006 by first completing an in-depth comparative analysis of how other top-ranked law school websites were marketing themselves. Due to the short timeframe for this project, the initial focus was placed upon the front page and content migration. From there, a new look/feel as well as an underlying structural upgrade was developed. Most of the content migration into the new look/feel was complete by early April. Release of fully designed website was around May 2006, after working with Information Services to ensure no clashes with existing files. There have been improvements after the initial launch, such as the addition of professional photography from outside vendors to increase the visual strength of the College's website and move away from the content-heavy approach of the original design (left).
